Welcome to www.billneubauer.com, the website and “on-line resume” for Bill Neubauer - performer, guitarist, singer, composer, lyricist. I am also the owner of www.sacredslackkey.com, which has directed you here. That site was for my CD, "Sweet And Sacred-A Fragrant Offering", which featured my Hawaiian Slack Key guitar-inspired arrangements of some well-know hymns. This site offers more information about the rest of me, and what else I have to share, beyond solo guitar performances. My target audiences are older Americans, Community groups, restaurants that want relaxing background music for their patrons, and Church groups...in the greater Western New York area (or beyond, if travel and accommodations can be arranged).
My vocal repertoire, sung while accompanying myself on guitar, consists mostly of the great songs from the 30s - 50s; the songs that people like Cole Porter and George Gershwin wrote, and people like Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole sang, plus a few Country Classics (listen to sound samples here). I also do an entire set of “Tropical Tunes” with well-known songs from Harry Belafonte and Don Ho (for those "Theme Parties"). Community groups might also be interested to know that I sing a nice arrangement of America’s National Anthem (listen to a sound sample here).
My Church music tends toward, but isn’t limited to, the more traditional. I have released an award-nominated CD of familiar hymns that I arranged as solo guitar instrumentals – check it out and hear sound samples (or buy a CD!) at www.cdbaby.com/neubauer. I’ve been a Worship Leader, performed concerts of Contemporary Christian songs, both covers and originals, and have provided beautiful background guitar for Worship Services and Healing Services. In fact, just sitting and playing a nice melody on the guitar is my favorite thing to do (listen to a sound sample here).
I’ve been playing the guitar and singing as a hobby since the early 70s, started leading Worship in the late 90’s, and since 2000 I have been performing in public, at dozens of WNY Nursing Homes and Adult Residences, and at many WNY Coffee Houses. I’ve also performed several times at the WNED Buffalo-Niagara Guitar Festival, several times at Borders Books and Music (both in Buffalo and in Rochester), and the Canal Fest in Tonawanda. I have appeared on Buffalo's "All That Matters" Cable TV13, Lockport Cable TV, been interviewed on WJJL-AM radio, been featured in newspaper articles in the Tonawanda News and the Lancaster Bee, and my CD was reviewed in the Buffalo Spree Magazine.
